Good morning all! It is actually now Friday (not ALMOST Friday anymore....) Mira interrupted me last night when I started the post.
This week has been a fairly busy week in the life of a new mom (not a very busy week in the life of people who are used to this or non-parents!). Monday Mira went to the pediatrician for her 1-month check-up. Tuesday was uneventful so we made sure to go on some long walks and I did a little bit of cleaning around the house.
Wednesday I visited a potential daycare--it is a Montessori school. I REALLY liked it and the Montessori philosophy. However, Miriam is 8th on the waiting list and the class only consists of 8 infants and they told me it is unlikely that a spot will open by January. It is quite disheartening that Mira is on the list for 3 daycares (2 since I was 4 months pregnant and the 3rd we had to wait to put her on the list until she was born) and I am pretty skeptical as to whether she will get into any of them by the time I need to go back to work. I guess Justin and I have to start to consider finding some 2nd-choice daycares that we can put her in until she gets a spot at one of our preferred locales.
Thursday I went into work to attend a Webinar. Justin was working from Athens so he met me at my building and took Miriam around to meet the Hajuk lab. Please see below for some great pictures! On Thursday we also visited with cousin Hilary who was kind enough to bring us a yummy meal that will last many days!
Today is Friday and Miriam and I are going to meet Josette for a girl's lunch, which should be fun. We are then going to do some errands and hopefully get a nap in (last night and this morning Mira has had a tummy ache).
I keep meaning to write about this dream I had the first week of Mira's life which I think is quite funny but Justin thinks everyone will think I am really weird (that's okay by me). Anyhow, I dreamed that Scooter (for those of you who don't know Scooter he is my 10-year old Maltese) was very sick. He had a parasite that was shaped like a seahorse that was stuck to the inside of his cheek. The parasite was literally sucking the life out of him and if I didn't help him get it out he was going to die the next day. Then I woke up....
Hilary brought us over some great food on Thursday night! Thanks so much Hilary!
Look at those cute Hajduk lab boys with Miriam!
The ladies in UGA's biochemistry office met Miriam on Justin's visit.
My mom and dad sent us beautiful flowers on Mira's 1-month b-day!
