Our cousins Beau and Hillary with Miriam

Me and the dogs hanging out on the porch with Miriam. We put a big pink ribbon on our house to let our neighbors know that our little girl had arrived!!!

Miriam loves her daddy....

We have been home from the hospital with Miriam for just over 1 week, and it has certainly been a challenge. Miriam has her days and nights mixed up. She is perfectly content to go to sleep in her crib in the daylight hours but in the night she tends to want to eat A LOT and then fuss for the 1-2 hours between the ending of her last feeding and the beginning of the next feeding. As Miriam needs to be fed every 2-3 hours (counting from the beginning of 1 feeding session to the beginning of the next) I have not been able to get more than about 1-1/2 hours of continuous sleep. I am hoping that when we see the pediatrician this week Miriam will have gained back her birth weight because then I think we will not have to wake her every 3 hours to eat if she is zonked out.
We have been so lucky to have friends and family around us who have provided kind words, gifts, meals, and visits (Hilary, you make a delicious brownie and awesome coleslaw!!!!). My mom arrived last night and she will stay for about 1 week. She has already been a tremendous help as she is a night owl like Miriam and has been able to stay up with her during her nightime wakeful periods so that Justin and I can get some sleep.
