Last Thursday night Abigail passed away. She had been "off" when we came home from Beaufort about 10 days before. She seemed to have some cognitive issues--getting stuck in corners and behind doors and constantly wandering. We took her to the vet on the Thursday before she died and then on Tuesday as she progressively got worse. The doctor gave us some meds to help with the anxiety (she got pretty stressed when she got stuck) and pain (if any). The doctor did a full neurological exam and couldn't really do anything else except refer us to a specialist at UGA for an MRI. She could have had a stroke (she also had a heart murmur) but Justin and I think she probably had a brain tumor. I feel thankful for the long time I was able to spend with her and all the memories she has brought me. I am also thankful that she didn't suffer very long and that I didn't have to make the decision about putting her down. I used to think it would be really hard, but seeing her so miserable would have made it easy, if she had not gone on her own.
