Home Improvements

This past week has been quite busy!  I am getting back into the work routine, although I am still just working part-time.  We have begun our next big project--raising the ceilings and uncovering fireplaces in the front part of our house.  This project is a bit too much for us to handle on our own so we have hired a contractor to do most of the work.  We went up to Abbeville this weekend for some R&R but had to return early as we found a burst water pipe.

Me and Mira in Abbeville.  She can face frontwards in her carrier now and loves to see what is going on in the world around her!

Mira is growing by leaps and bounds!  She no longer needs the little sling in her bathtub and she loves to splash in the water.  She also loves to put everything in her mouth and has even found her fingers to suck on!

The bricks have been removed from the fireplace in our living room/dining room.  We will most likely cover this with tile.  We also figured out that when one entered our house it used to be through a hallway with doors on the right and left for the blue room and green room and lead back to the kitchen.

The original plaster ceilings.

This is the fireplace in the blue room that was covered by paneling.  It was originally a coal burning fireplace.  It is now gone because there was no way that we could really restore it.
