Spring Break

This past week Mira had her Spring Break and I was furloughed on Monday so we decided to take a trip to Minnesota! This happened to coincide with Sophia's birthday party. We had a blast...it was really great to see Sophia and Mira connecting! I also got to visit with my friend Barbara, who will be defending her thesis soon. Good luck Barbara!

I mentioned being furloughed....well, just before I left for Minnesota it was announced that the university, which is under tremendous budget cuts, is going to eliminate my office for FY2011. Hopefully it won't happen, but there is still a good possibility that they will lay off people within the department and/or that we will get further pay cuts and furlough days. Cross your fingers for me that that will not happen!

Back to the vacation, Mira was really good on the airplane and I was proud of her for being such a grown-up girl! I think it helped A LOT that she had her own seat.

Mira is obsessed with jumping off the step I use for step aerobics!

Mira all dressed up for the cold weather! One morning I decided that I should try to get some energy out of Mira at the park down the street before I left with my sister to go to the gym, and it was a disaster. In the garage she took a spill while I was getting the stroller out of the car. As soon as I opened the garage door she took off down the driveway, and man, she can run FAST! She tripped halfway down and got her jacket FILTHY!!! We are both stubborn, so still headed down to the park. Once we got there Mira wanted to get out and play on the swings, which was really not possible because they were surrounded in snow, but I decided to let Mira try anyway. She kept falling down and eventually was in tears so we headed back, defeated by the cold and snow. SIGH.

Sophia after her birthday party at Pump It Up. All the kids, including Mira, had a great time! I think it is my first of many Pump It Up-esque parties.

Mira is finally allowed to play with play doh, although she still sneaks pieces into her mouth here and there. I forget why she is crying in this picture, but it is probably because we took some of the stuff that went into her mouth away.

Sunday afternoon we went to the St. Paul Children's museum. It was really fun and I am guessing will be a trip we will make every time we visit. Here Mira is playing with bubbles!

Mira is keeping a close eye on Sophia!

Mira's first McDonald's fry

Sophia was feeding Mira fries and they were both hamming it up, having a great time!

This was the day we left. Mira is very sad and misses Sophia LOTS! Hopefully Sophia and Stephanie will come visit us in Athens!
