Ready, Set, GO!

I know I sound like a broken record, but Miriam is growing leaps and bounds!  In my last post I mentioned that she had a 3rd tooth--well the next day we noticed a 4th!  And she has gone from tentatively crawling (so much that we were debating about whether it was actually a crawl) to quickly moving wherever she wants to go on all fours.  Her favorite thing to do right now is to pull herself up on anything and everything, so it is essential to keep a close eye on her!

Last weekend Justin and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by spending the weekend in Atlanta.  Ann came up to watch Mira and we were Mira-free for a day and a half!  We had a great time.  Since I am such a foodie it was of course a culinarily extravagant weekend as well.  Baked goods, gelato, gourmet chocolate, a delicious French cafe and more.  YUM!  I even took a nap on Saturday afternoon!

This week I have been very busy making Armaya's birthday cake.  She asked me to make a monkey cake for her party.  As my cakes are more about taste than looks I was a little nervous but accepted the challenge anyway.  You can see my results below.  I did indeed have some struggles (the first frosting I made was too thick and pretty much tore apart the delicate cake) but I think it ended up looking decent.  Not professional, but a pretty good amateur cake.

Monkey cake.  Hope it tastes good!  I can tell you the frosting tastes good!  My first try at making real buttercream!
