Rainy Days

Whoa...it has been a long time since we have posted an update!  We have been very busy and haven't taken that many pictures!

Last week was a busy one!  On Sunday Justin left for a week-long trip to Iowa for a vaccine course.  Of course, it just so happened that last week was the first week since I have been back at work that I wanted to attend a conference as well.  My conference (the annual BIO International Conference) was in Atlanta and our office had a booth and everything, so there was really no way I couldn't attend, so I ended up driving back and forth each day (with the exception of 1 day in which we paid Amanda a little extra to stay overnight).

Well, let's just say the week was challenging/exhausting for me!  I really felt pulled in all directions.  I couldn't leave for the conference until at least 8am each day and needed to be back in Athens by 6pm.  Thus, I really didn't spend that much time at the conference, especially after my 2 in-minivan pumping sessions were counted in.  But I really missed Mira a lot too and felt like I was just barely scraping by at home.  It certainly made me appreciate the fact that my boss is allowing me to work 80% time.  It also seemed that everything that could go wrong (at least as the little things were concerned!) did go wrong.  From a dog fight to a broken breast pump (resulting in a pumping session at the first aid booth!) to a poo down the leg and into the foot of the PJs, it was a challenge!  The hotel I stayed at in Atlanta for the one night was great...so great I didn't want to sleep!  It was a suite with a kitchen so big it had a dishwasher!  And a TV with all kinds of channels!  I stayed in the hotel and had dinner with a group of my colleagues and the mayer of Athens too, which was really cool!

Justin arrived back in Friday and we had planned on leaving Saturday morning for Abbeville.  However, rain was on the horizon....we have been to Abbeville so many times and been stuck in the cabin because of rain that we didn't want a repeat performance, so we ended up canceling the trip.  It was disappointing because we were going to go up there with my friend Kay's family as well.  Kay has a 4 year-old and a 2 year-old.  We were especially concerned about getting up there and being in the middle of a hike or a canoe trip with a little one and have a downpour occur!  I think we would have been okay had we gone up, but there was no way of telling that on Saturday morning.  We ended up just getting a lot of work done on the house and going over to Kay's for dinner on Saturday night.

Finally, I caughter Mira in a smile!

And another!  We also keep trying to get a picture of this "scrunchy" face she makes...she basically scrunches up her nose, breathes through it really heavy, and puckers her lips too at the same time!  Very cute!

Mira had a great time playing with Logan!  We have now also taken her to the daycare at the gym and she loves it because there are so many big kids to watch!

Mira and Daddy!

Chewing on the thumb...and anything else that comes into proximity!

Justin had told me she was a very happy baby - those pictures of her smiling look like she must be! And how round, she is just adorable. It sounds like you did have a rough week. But I do wonder why everything seems to break or go wrong as soon as you have a very busy schedule ahead of you... I know it happens to me all the time too!
