Busy Bees

The Wideners have been keeping themselves busy throughout the month of January! After all the travels we did over the holidays it has been great to be home, but I have to admit that I am getting a little bit of cabin fever!

I returned to work the first week in January, and it has honestly been exhausting. We got a bit of a break the second week of the month due to the major snowstorm that hit Athens, which was followed by cold weather. Justin had a business trip that was cancelled and UGA was closed for 3 days and had a delayed start 2 more days. At the same time Mira was also very sick with a cold and high fever. Although it was terrible that she was sick, she picked a really good time to get sick because neither Justin or me had to actually take vacation or sick time to care for her.

All smiles despite her cold and high fever!

I love that look!

Future bulldawg?

Out for a walk in the cold weather. I think this was MLK Day weekend. We originally wanted to go to Atlanta and maybe check out the aquarium, but Mira was still a bit sick. We even had a babysitter lined up for that Friday night and had to cancel, which was very disappointing, especially for me because I had been holed up all week long with the kiddos.

Burke came over last week while his Mommy and Daddy went to the basketball game. Mira and Burke had so much fun! Mira asked for Burke the first thing the next morning!

I love how the water is splashing in this picture!

We received some very tragic news last week. Mira's former nanny Amanda was killed in a car accident, along with her brother Logan and her fiance Anthony. I think that we are all just still in disbelief. We cannot imagine what it could be like to be in Amanda's mother Deana's shoes, losing her only 2 children at once in such a horrible way. We cannot imagine what it will be like for Amanda's daughter Armaya, who is just 3 years old. Our hearts go out to Amanda's family and we hope to be able to help them in any way possible in the coming weeks and months.

Smiles!

Having fun with Leigh! We have to have her over more often. I think Justin and I actually got to have an uninterrupted conversation that was over 3 minutes long!

Scooter turned 13 on January 11th. Poor guy gets no attention and walks are almost non-existent. His mommy is feeling VERY guilty!

All dolled up in her Valentine's Day dress. Have I mentioned that Mira prefers to wear dresses? I don't know if it will change or not, but I've got to get more of 'em!

Today Cecilia tried her first "solid" food. She went to the doctor last week for her 4 month check up and came in at the 90th percentile for height, the 50th percentile for weight, and the 25th percentile for head size. The doctor recommended at least trying the food (I really wanted to wait!) because perhaps it would help Cecilia sleep through the night.

Cecilia didn't love it, but she didn't push it out of her mouth either. It was actually just hard to get her to open up!

I hope she likes food as much as her big sister!
