Miriam and I are now in Minnesota visiting my family. It was a stressful last few days in Athens--Justin and I both had our workplace holiday parties, we were scrambling to find daycare for Miriam for January and a contractor for our house, and I was trying to strategize about how to make it through the airport and onto the plane seamlessly. Needless to say, none of my strategizing paid off! However, I also have to say that we have been so lucky to have great family and friends helping us out. Jay and Jennifer took care of Mira during Justin's holiday party, my sister found all sorts of Sophia's newborn clothes so I didn't have to bring any for Mira, and my parents have just been wonderful all around. They even found a second hand swing that we can use--which will make us ALL a lot less stressed!

Here in the center are a couple of nerdy dancers at the Merial holiday party!
Justin snapped this picture of me just as I was getting on the plane. We had a horrible first airport experience. We arrived at the airport 1-1/2 hours early to find that we had to stand in the "kiosk assistance" line since I was traveling with Mira. The line was about 1 hour long and so we missed our flight. Delta charged ME a $50 change fee and said that I should have listed that I was flying with an infant when I bought the ticket!!! Well, I had tried to buy her a ticket when I purchased my ticket and they wouldn't let me as she didn't have a name yet. The agent at the time had told me to just go to the airport on the day of the flight and ask for a seat with an empty seat next to it. I have rarely seen Justin mad and he was really mad..... Oh, and Mira also decided to pee all over her clothes when I changed her (luckily I had a packed a second outfit for that reason, but I forgot socks!!!), we were seated in the crowded front cabin next to a poor 20-something foreign man and Mira screamed during takeoff. When I got up later in the flight I saw there were all kinds of empty seats in the back! Why would the agent not have put me in one of those seats???? Okay, I am done complaining. The silver lining was that they let Justin come with me to the gate which was EXTREMELY helpful!
Mira got her first picture with Santa on Monday!

Sophia and "Sophia Miriam" (this is what Sophia calls Mira and now I am even calling her that!) underneath the Christmas tree. Mira loves the lights!
